Stacked Heel Sandals

Stacked Heel Sandals (aka Block Heels) are a Spring Trend I recommend because of their versatility and comfort – and they’re cute!  Stacked heels work with skirts, shorts, pants, dresses and, of course, denim (another hot Spring trend).  They come in many heights providing great options and they are comfortable because the heel offers more surface area for stability.

I’ve selected a few options I think would make great updates to a wardrobe.  They represent different price points but I feel all versatile depending on your personal style.  Click on the link above the photo to learn more about the selection or to purchase – all are available at Nordstrom.

Dressing up Distressed Jeans

It is nearly February but Happy New Year!!

After a long hiatus due to troublesome computer/blog glitches, I am back!!  To those that follow my blog and have asked about when my next post will be, my sincerest apologies.  Since early December,  I have had technical problems with my blog.  I have spoken to numerous experts who have offered numerous differing opinions.  But, I finally found the right, trustworthy help and it seems the blog is sorted and working properly!!  Thank you for your patience!

My last post was showing distressed jeans in a casual but put together outfit.  This post is using the same jeans (and top) but dressing them up. By adding a long vest with a removeable fur collar (fur attached), animal print stacked heels and a clutch, the outfit is suddenly dressed up.  This is an outfit that could be worn out to dinner, to a casual dinner party, a ladies night or perhaps a trip into the city.

How to Wear a Skinny Scarf

A skinny scarf is my favorite accessory right now.  I love the way they add polish without effort and go casual or dressy.  Try wearing a skinny scarf with a round or v-neck t-shirt and jeans – so chic!!

In this outfit I am wearing it with a black v-neck tunic, skinny, high-rise, destructed jeans and ankle booties.  I threw on a suede trench with it.  Have fun trying different looks!

Sweaters – Cozy, Comfy, Chic

After thankful, the 3 “C”s – Cozy, Comfortable and Chic are what I am thinking about for Thanksgiving.  Tunic style sweaters fit my 3 “C”s, and what is even nicer, no matter the type of gathering you are attending, these sweaters can work!  If you’re going to a casual get together wear with either leggings or jeans.  If it is a bit more dressed up wear with a slack, cropped pant or a skirt, tights and boots. Additionally, if you prefer covered arms, just wear a long-sleeved t-shirt under the short sleeved and sleeveless pieces.  Added bonus and 4th “C” – they Camouflage an expanding waistline!!

What to Wear for Thanksgiving

Considering the horrifying terrorist attacks in Paris and the uncertainty these acts bring, it is important while we pray for others, we reflect on the good in life and all we are thankful for.  With Thanksgiving a week away, I am thinking of and thankful for my family, my husband and four children and my friends old and new, near and far.  Among other things, I am thankful for my children’s teachers and coaches – particularly those that have influenced them in a positive way or have made a difference in their life.

With the abundant Thanksgiving meal ahead and gatherings being organized, the personal stylist in me is naturally thinking – What to Wear for Thanksgiving?  What comes to mind is casual, cozy and comfy (big meal means expanding waist) but also, stylish and current.

Our Thanksgiving gathering is casual so a comfy cashmere tunic and leather leggings will likely be my choice.

How to Wear Plaid Shoes

By now, considering this is my third post on the subject, one may have figured out that I’m mad for plaid!  Plaid is such a practical print, yet it can really make a statement – with simplicity and elegance.  Putting together an outfit where the shoe is the star makes getting dressed easy (and you will look pulled together effortlessly).  In all of the following instances wearing one column of color top to bottom with a plaid shoe would work.  However, imagine the following scenarios as an option for how to wear plaid shoes…all great for Fall and Winter and, of course, holiday gatherings! Plan on Plaid

Plaid is classic but trendy, casual or dressy, basic yet chic.  It comes in many colors, patterns and styles and it is appropriate for all ages.  I have always been a fan and owner of the traditional plaid/flannel button down.  But this year I am loving the versatility of casual plaid dresses.  Wear them with ankle boots, thigh high boots, rain boots, sneakers or a loafer.  They can also work as a long jacket or a layer if they button top to bottom. I also like plaid tunic tops that can be worn over a skinny jean or a leather legging.  There is a plaid piece for everyone!

Below are a mix of pieces that caught my eye and represent different brands and price points.  Options for plaid dresses and plaid tunics are included. The link for more information is below the photo.

Fur, real or faux, is a classic and current way to add luxury and opulence to your look and wardrobe. Real fur is the ultimate, but today’s faux fur looks and feels so authentic that you don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy all of real furs benefits.  There are so many gorgeous and affordable options!  One of my favorite stores for finding well-priced current pieces is Zara.  Adding a chic and cozy faux fur piece now will get you through the cold weather months ahead in style!!

Ankle Booties are useful, versatile and add an instant update to your wardrobe! They can become the workhorse of your wardrobe because they can be worn with shorts, skirts, skinny jeans, flare jeans and they can totally chic up dresses!  They also span the seasons.
