Dressing up Distressed Jeans

It is nearly February but Happy New Year!!

After a long hiatus due to troublesome computer/blog glitches, I am back!!  To those that follow my blog and have asked about when my next post will be, my sincerest apologies.  Since early December,  I have had technical problems with my blog.  I have spoken to numerous experts who have offered numerous differing opinions.  But, I finally found the right, trustworthy help and it seems the blog is sorted and working properly!!  Thank you for your patience!

My last post was showing distressed jeans in a casual but put together outfit.  This post is using the same jeans (and top) but dressing them up. By adding a long vest with a removeable fur collar (fur attached), animal print stacked heels and a clutch, the outfit is suddenly dressed up.  This is an outfit that could be worn out to dinner, to a casual dinner party, a ladies night or perhaps a trip into the city.

Striped tee with white jeans 3 ways

Shopping my closet,  playing around with pieces in my wardrobe and putting different outfits together is happy time for me.  For Women over 40 the loss of a defined waist starts to become a reality. So using techniques that do not draw attention to the middle, like leaving tops out and choosing jeans that have a high waist, are helpful in camouflaging that area.

Two very basic pieces – a Gap striped relaxed black and white t-shirt and Gap 1969 destructed resolution true-skinny high-rise jeans are combined to create three classic yet different black and white looks.

First is the casual outfit.  I turned up the jeans a bit to create a cuff and mixed the pieces with a black denim jacket, super comfortable Roxy Ventura Crochet slip-on sneakers, my silver Nantucket basket necklace, diamond studs and Chanel sunglasses.

Pulled hair back in an unfussy, low, casual pony tail that I don’t pull through all the way.

A black bird paid a visit and landed on the white fence – perfectly black and white!

The second is a comfortable day out shopping outfit.  Worn with BP booties from Nordstrom, carrying a red tote from Zara with an Hermes red enamel H bracelet.  Bringing in the pops of red makes the outfit more fun.

Lastly, the dressiest outfit of the three.  Wearing platform heeled sandals by Vince Camuto…

One rainy day or any day, spend a little time picking out a few pieces and mix them with different shoes and accessories and see if you can create one outfit, 3 ways!

White Dress – Look Cool, Classic, Comfortable

So, this is what I mean by looking “cool”!  I’ve been checking out some of the Fall clothes in store, however, I am still focused on Summer and dressing for the hot and often humid weather in New York. For me, summer dressing = comfortable dressing! I enjoy wearing clothes that make me look like I feel cool and comfortable (even if I am not).  The Gap Dobby Fit & Flare white dress is perfect for those reasons – easy, comfortable and cool!  Moreover, it can be worn with flip flops to shoes like my JCrew Seville espadrille wedges.

In the summer I also like to keep accessories at a minimum and in this case modern – simple silver studs by Michael Kors  and a silver cuff with mother of pearl.

Nail color is by Essie in Clambake.
